Advancing Research in Tourism: Methods of Research Program for TIEZA (Part 2)
In the venture towards establishing a well-grounded tourism research, the Dr. Andrew L. Tan Center for Tourism (ALT-CFT) offered its expertise in strategic management and research methods to the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA). The last two sessions of the course on 'Advancing Research in Tourism: Methods of Research Program' encompassed the subject of quantitative research.
Prof. Fernando Martin Y. Roxas took over the first session entitled Statistics for Research. The session tackled the various methods to apply statistics on tourism research, from basic statistics to sampling theory. This was followed by the discussion on Quantitative Techniques in Research by John Paolo R. Rivera, Ph.D. The various techniques in hypothesis testing and its application to research were discussed in depth. By the end of the session, the participants presented their initial research proposals. Recommendations and suggestions were provided to further enhance the said proposals.
The final presentation and panel discussion of the participants' research proposal will be held during the closing ceremony of the program.
The program was held last 19-20 May 2016 at the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) office. A total of forty three officers of TIEZA participated in the program.
