Sustainable and Integrated Practices in Tourism Forum

The forum entitled “Sustainable and Integrated Practices in Tourism” highlighted how tourism enterprises practice sustainability and social innovation principles. The key focus was on the interaction of different stakeholders and value chain members of tourism destinations in advancing sustainable tourism that ensures economic viability of tourism businesses, involvement of local communities, and conservation and preservation of the natural environment. The forum brought together a multitude of stakeholders from the academe, government, and private sector to deliberate on the management and pursuit of sustainability and social innovation.

Lecture Series: Surf Tourism and Social Entrepreneurship in Coastal Communities

In line with this, the AIM-Dr. Andrew L. Tan Center for Tourism highlighted the role of surf tourism in achieving sustainable tourism development. As coastal communities face growing concerns regarding declining marine resources, we find that surf tourism can be a potential development alternative among local communities in the Philippines. This forum aimed to facilitate a discussion among academe, tourism practitioners, and the public and private sector with the objective of exploring surf tourism development in the Philippines.
