Coopetition Model for Adoption of Zero Carbon Resort

ALT-CFT Case Study:
A COOPETITION MODEL FOR THE ADOPTION OF ZERO CARBON RESORT PRACTICES AT SABANG, PALAWAN, PHILIPPINES – EU-ASEAN LESSONS IN TOURISM (C)
AQUINO, Timothy Jorelle B.

Sabang Beach in Palawan, popularly known as the gateway to the Puerto Princesa Underground River, one of the 7 New Wonders of Nature, is characterized by pronounced waves of seasonality and very high amounts of day trippers (95%) passing through its shores, resulting in a lot of value not being captured by the community. Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort owner, Butch Tan, is looking to make the destination more competitive using the principles of coopetition in order to grow the size of their market of overnight staying guests. To do so would entail cooperating with his competitors in order to create value before competing over how to divide the pie.
