DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY FOR ASEAN IN THE AGE OF TOURISM INTEGRATION: ONE HEART, ONE MIND, ONE VISION

Since its founding in 1967, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 1967 has evolved from being a loose forum for exchanging official views to an organization with a distinct identity underpinned by the unique "ASEAN" way (Medalla & Yap, 2008). Each ASEAN Member States (AMS) contributes to regional efforts towards a unified and open community. The AMS can be reclassified further into the ASEAN6, which includes the five original member economies plus Brunei Darussalam and the block of Camboia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Viet Nam (CLMV). These groupings still share the same goals.
