The growth of the Philippine tourism industry is largely driven by visits to natural attractions. While tourism remains a key sector that steers economic growth in the country, addressing concerns on environmental conservation and local community involvement has become increasingly challenging. A question on sustainability of the industry’s development therefore arises. We establish a value chain framework for Philippine tourism that incorporates the quadruple-bottom line strategy to understand how sustainable tourism is being practised among value chain members in the Philippines. These findings have implications in the pursuit of sustainable tourism development in the country.
